Itinerary

1. Day
Arrival in Munich
Welcome by the local tour guide, who will accompany you throughout your stay. Sightseeing tour by bus and on foot through Munich, the capital of Bavaria: Historic old city with its famous buildings and squares, such as Marienplatz with the town hall, the Frauenkirche (Chrurch of Our Lady) with its distinctive onion-topped towers, the Olympic Grounds, and the Nymphenburg Palace, baroque residence of the Bavarian kings. In the evening enjoy a convivial Bavarian evening with traditional music and meal. Accommodation for one night. BD

2. Day
Munich – Oberammergau
(approx. 100 km/62 miles)
Munich: In the morning visit to the Olympic Park and drive to Dachau: Visit to the site of Germany's first Concentration Camp, nowadays memorial site and museum. Guided tour in the museum with its reconstructed barracks and crematorium where the holocaust is documented. Afterwards, as a strong contrast, drive through the beautiful and scenic Bavarian countryside, and visit two of the most famous, delightful fairytale castles that belonged to King Ludwig II – Linderhof and Neuschwanstein. Drive to Oberammergau: Accommodation in or near Oberammergau for two nights. BD

3. Day
Oberammergau
World-renowned, this quaint Bavarian town is the site of the extravagant Oberammergau Passion Play – performed only once every ten years. The permanent exhibition explains the tradition and history behind this spectacle. Take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Beginning in the afternoon and involving almost all residents of the village, the play has a running time of approx. five hours with a three-hour intermission. BD

4. Day
Oberammergau – Lake Chiemsee – Salzburg (approx. 260 km/162 miles))
Drive through Upper Bavaria to Lake Chiemsee, which features another spectacular creation of King Ludwig II – Herrenchiemsee Castle. Situated in the centre of the lake, on 'Herreninsel', the castle was supposed to become the "new Versailles". Then drive to the German-Austrian border to Salzburg (World Heritage Site), one of the most beautiful and historic cities in Europe and birthplace of Mozart. Accommodation for two nights. BD

5. Day
Salzburg
Sightseeing tour through Salzburg with its cultural and historic monuments such as the Hohensalzburg Fortress and the birth house of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The tour continues with a visit to Mirabell Palace with its marvellous gardens full of fountains and sculputures, one of the backdrops for the film „The Sound of Music". BD

6. Day
Salzburg – Vienna (approx. 300 km/186 miles)
Drive to Melk, the baroque Abbey and a spiritual and cultural centre in Austria for over 1,000 years. Guided tour through the Benedictine Monastery with its famous library and the Marble Hall. Afterwards continue with a Danube cruise tour along the Wachau (World Heritage Site), one of the most beautiful stretches of the Danube Valley. Drive to Vienna, capital of Austria, and accommodation for three nights. BD

7. Day
Vienna
Sightseeing tour through Vienna with its aristocratic palaces, baroque churches, the Stephansdom Cathedral, and the Hofburg Palace (home of the Habsburg emperors) that gives an indication of its grand and imperial past. The highlight of the tour will be the Schonbrunn Palace (World Heritage Site), summer residence of the Habsburg family and home of Maria Theresia. Time at leisure. In the evening, drive to Kahlenberg, part of the Vienna Woods with a spectacular view of the entire city. Visit to a Heurigenlokal, which offers typical local wines, food, and music.

Vienna (approx. 100 km/62 miles)
Full-day excursion to the Vienna Woods, former hunting ground of the Habsburg dynasty and popular destination for the Viennese inhabitants with the memorial chapel in Mayerling of Crown Prince Rudolf, son of Emperor Franz Josef II and Empress Elisabeth I (Sissi). Return to Vienna and time at leisure. BD

9. Day
Vienna – Prague (approx. 340 km/211 miles)
Drive via Jihlava to Prague (World Heritage Site). In the afternoon, tour of Jewish Prague with Jewish city hall (view from outside), Altneschul - oldest existing
in Europe, Maisel Synagogue (Jewish museum), and the old Jewish cemetery. Dinner cruise on the Vtlava River. Accommodation for two nights. BD

10. Day
Prague
In the morning tour of the famous and largest ancient castle in the world, "Hradschin", "The Child of Prague", situated in the baroque Maria de Victoria Church, Loreto Monastery, St. Vitus Cathedral, the Jan Hus Memorial, and Wenzel Square. Leisure time in the afternoon. BD

11. Day
Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and return.
